Yuko Shimizu
YUKO SHIMIZU is a Japanese illustrator lives and works in New York City. She is also a part time illustration instructor at School of Visual Arts (SVA). Yuko has a BA in advertising and marketing and worked in PR in corporate Japan for more than 10 years before she decided on the gamble of a lifetime to quit her career, pack up everything and move to New York to become an artist. She started illustrating after receiving MFA from Illustration as Visual Essay program at SVA. When she is not at her studio in midtown Manhattan, she is traveling somewhere she had never been, giving lectures, workshops, or just getting inspired to create more. CLIENTS:She works with diverse range of clients including creating advertising campaigns for Microsoft, VISA, Pepsi, NIKE, MTV, FUSE TV and NPR, as well as appearing on the magazine pages of TIME, The New York Times, The New Yorker, PLAYBOY, GQ and Rolling Stone, etc. AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS:Gold and SIlver medals from the Society of Illustrators, Silver Medal from Spectrum, Merit from Art Directors Club, American Illustration, Communication Arts, Yellow Pencil Award from D&AD, Magazine of the Year Award from Society of Publication Designers, etc.
