Thom creates graphic, layered, conceptual and thoughtful illustrations that are predominantly traditional paint or mixed media on paper. He is an artist, illustrator and educator who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. Thom's work has appeared in a wide variety of international publications, as well as producing images for clients in book publishing, graphic design and corporate communications. A partial list of some of these clients is: Business Week, Utne Reader, Mother Jones, Chicago Tribune, Rolling Stone, Scientific American, The Globe and Mail, Washington Post, Cottage Life, German Vogue, Canada Post (a stamp for the Millennium Collection), Sun Life Financial, United Airlines, Pfiser, The Journal of the Norwegian Medical Association, Double Day Canada, Duncan Baird Publishers, and TD Canada Trust to name just a few. His book covers have been published for markets in Italy, Germany and Great Britain.

Thom's illustration work has received numberous awards and multiple-recognition from: American Illustration, Communication Arts Illustration Annual, The Society of Illustrators (New York), Luerzer's Archive 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide, 3x3 Magazine Illustration Annual, Creative Quarterly, How Magazine, Applied Arts Awards Annual, The Art Directors Club of Toronto, Studio Magazine, CAPIC. His work has been exhibited in Toronto, New York City and Amsterdam. Thom is the recipient of the 3x3 Magazine Educator / Illustrator of the Year in the recent Awards Annual No. 16.

Thom is on the illustration faculty at both Sheridan College, where he is a thesis advisor, and at OCAD University in Toronto.
